Medical practitioner with specialist training in anaesthesia and intensive care.
Dr Julia Groves is a Specialist Anaesthetist providing private anaesthetic services to the Friendly Society Private Hospital and Bundaberg Mater Hospital. In 1995, she graduated as a medical doctor from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. Early on, she developed a keen interest in anaesthesia and embarked on specialist training in all the sub-specialities of Anaesthesia. She was awarded the South African Fellowship in Anaesthesia (FCA) in 2001.
In 2008, Dr Groves and her young family moved to Australia and settled in the Bundaberg region. She then attained the Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) in 2009. In addition to her private practice, Dr Groves also works as a part-time Senior Medical Officer in Anaesthesia at Bundaberg Hospital where she is a Supervisor of Training for the ANZCA registrars. She enjoys small group teaching and giving lectures and maintains an up-to-date continual professional development portfolio with the Anaesthetic College. She will enthusiastically engage in discussions on gourmet cooking, food & nutrition and modular origami.
Dr Groves aims to provide a professional, knowledgeable and calming anaesthetic experience for her patients.
